Submit Petition: Submit the completed petition to the circuit court along with the filing fee (around $400, varies by county). While awaiting the hearing, fill out the Final Judgment of Name Change form. Hearing and Final Filing: Attend the final hearing where the judge will ask questions and, if approved, sign the final judgment. After the hearing, take the signed judgment for filing and obtain certified copies. Use certified copies to update your name with the Social Security Administration and other government offices.
