Meet Your Fingerprint Technician

Mike Mahoney

Fingerprint Technician

My educational background is in Software Engineering and Web Development. I have a passion for solving business problems and delivering a quality service experience for my customers.

We started Sarasota Fingerprints during Covid when everything was shut down and it was difficult to get healthcare employees fingerprinted efficiently and quickly in our area.

Now more than 2 years later we have continuously expanded our services to include many different types of fingerprint capture and background screening.

Getting fingerprinted can be overwhelming so I strive to make every fingerprinting session enjoyable and relaxing.

How does the fingerprinting process work?

Obtain Your ORI Number

An ORI Number serves as a digital address used by the state to ensure that your results are directed to the appropriate regulatory agency for review. It is mandatory to have an ORI Number for scanning purposes. If you're unsure about your ORI number, you can obtain the correct information from your employer, licensing authority, or regulatory agency.

Frequently asked questions

Get answers to your questions about fingerprinting.

What is an OCA number & where can I find it?

The OCA number stands for Originating Agency Case Number. This number is only required for DCF LiveScan Fingerprinting. It is used in conjunction with an ORI number and identifies the specific company which should receive the final results of the background check. You should ask you employer to provide this number before getting fingerprints for DCF.

What is an ORI number & where can I find it?

The ORI number stands for Originating Agency Identifier. This number identifies the agency requesting the criminal history check and for what purpose. Without this number, we can not guarantee that your fingerprints are submitted to the right agency.

What is LiveScan Fingerprinting?

LiveScan Fingerprinting is a digital fingerprinting process in which fingerprints are taken using an electronic scanner, rather than the traditional ink-and-paper method. The fingerprints are then transmitted electronically to the appropriate agency, such as a law enforcement agency or government agency, for background check and identification purposes. This process is typically faster and more accurate than traditional fingerprinting methods.

What types of payment are accepted?

We accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App, Square Afterpay and ACH Transfers.

How long does the LiveScan Fingerprinting process take?

If you are prepared with all of the necessary information, the whole process should take 10-15 mins. If you wish to expedite your visit, you may choose to fill out your demographic information and pay for your appointment when booking the appointment.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

You need a valid state or federally issued form of identification so we can prove your identity. We only accept original documents. Photocopies are not accepted. If you are under 18 years old, please bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. (located under useful links below) Examples: Valid United States Driver’s License, Valid Passport (any Country), Military ID.

Do I need an appointment?

We do welcome walk-ins, but we strongly recommend scheduling an appointment in advance as we cannot guarantee availability in the event that our schedule is fully booked or our equipment is being used elsewhere. If you're unable to find any available appointments on our booking page, please give us a call.

How can I track the status of my LiveScan fingerprints?

You may find the TCN Number located on your receipt and visit to view the current status.

How long does it take to get my results?

Your fingerprints are submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) upon departure of your visit. It typically takes FDLE 12-24 hours to run the background report and send the results to the licensing agency. Once the licensing agency receives the results, they take 5-7 business days to process the results into their portal or clearinghouse.
